Biography
Yixiong Yan is a Perception Algorithm Engineer in Department of Intelligent Driving Software Development, Dongfeng Motor Corporation Research&Development Institute (formerly known as the “Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. Technology Center”) starting from Autumn 2019, Wuhan, China. His research and development advisor is Hang Yang(2020-2021), Xinjuan Tuo(2022-2025).
Yixiong Yan received the B. E. degree from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 2019. He will receive the M. A. degree from School of Politics and Public Administration, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 2025.
Yixiong Yan’s research interests include visual perception and visual location in the field of autonomous driving, with a focus on generic/oriented/3D object detection, lane detection and SLAM. He has published some papers at the international conferences and journals and published some key patents. He is the leading contributor to the LVLMs(2025), (fisheye/pinhole camera) visual BEV perception(2022-2024), Object Detection(2021-2024) and visual SLAM(2020-2021) scientific research projects, and lane detection module application (2020-2021) in mass-produced vehicles based on Mobileye in Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd..

- 04/2025: EBV mass production solution of view-transformer based on bilinear_sample idea, used for ground marking detection, parking space detection, stop line detection and other tasks of fisheye camera
- 04/2025: Research on infoNCE loss for distillation
- 03/2025: In order to write PPT for training, latex is specially used for writing. Using livetext to write beamer is a good experience!
- 03/2025: The process of training 《BEV view-transformer and the Kannala-Brandt distortion model of fisheye lens》 for the group. The three paradigm processes of view-transformer: 3D point generation (depth scheme, set direct geometric transformation and sparse scheme), 3D to 2D point mapping (pinhole, fisheye, multi-view fusion) and 2D image use and BEV generation exist in many optimization ideas (bilinear sampling, voxel aggregation, sparse sampling and transformer direct generation).
- 03/2025: Completed the Wuhan University thesis “Public Service Demand Management Empowered by Digital Intelligence - Collaborative Decision-making Framework for Knowledge Graph and KANO Model” and submitted it for blind review on time. In order to meet the requirement of 32 hours of industry lectures, I participated in several lectures in March.
- 03/2025: Based on the teacher-student distillation model research, such as UniDistill, BEVDistill, DistillBEV. Among them, Feature Distillation and Logit Distillation are the two main methods in knowledge distillation.

- 02/2025: Analysis of the view-transformer process of LSS, BEDdet and BEVDepth, and development of an algorithm for OD target detection based on fisheye lens
- 02/2025: Establish a knowledge graph of the People’s Network leader message board data, based on the Neo4j database, use Cypher to query Neo4j, to support the empirical research of Wuhan University’s degree thesis
- 02/2025: Self-built GLM-V4 generative artificial intelligence, matching OpenAI protocol, for BERTopic topic representation, and also for entity extraction and sentiment extraction of message board data

- 09/2024: Release the perception system IDL communication interface for high level APA. Release the 《Perception Boot-up Manual》 to facilitate functional debugging by other external technical specialists across the upstream and downstream supply chain.
- 09/2024: Deploy TensorRT-based parking slot and object detection using DDS communication on NVIDIA Orin devices in the S59 experimental vehicle.
- 08/2024: Deploy perception algorithms on Black Sesame A1000 embedded devices in the S73 experimental vehicle. Conduct team training covering: A1000 hardware setup, A1000 Linux system flashing, cross-compilation, program execution, and debugging methods.
- 07/2024: Submit a high-value patent portfolio titled “Automatic Parking Feature Recognition and Control Technology” to Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
- 06/2024: The visual perception system is deployed on NVIDIA embedded devices based on remote VNC, including multi-process shared memory image transmission, Tensorrt IPM parking detection, and data collection and upload system. The software has been successfully debugged on experimental vehicles, with trtexec compiled from source code for ONNX to TensorRT conversion.

- 01/2024: Team meeting of BEV Multi-tasking visual perception system “SMP”development, , January 31, 2024, Wuhan.
- 01/2024: Develop with NVIDIA DRIVE Driveworks. The completed work includes: Jenkins automatically cross-compiles and uploads binary programs to DRIVE devices, remote VNC access to DRIVE devices, camera opening, and TensorRT 2D target detection. Applications can be quickly developed based on this platform in the future, January 30, 2024

The maximum distance of memory parking is 500 meters, at 2021 Dongfeng Motor Brand Autumn Press Conference and the 6th Science and Technology Innovation Week.

- 10/2020: L3+pre-research, Kick-off meeting of the L3+ autonomous driving perception pre-research project based on DDS communication, with interns Ruichen Tan (Ohio University), Hao Chao, Zhigao He,Peijie Chen, etc. Four major categories of things were accomplished: 1. Established a communication matrix and completed the hierarchical decomposition of software modules. 2. L3+ implements CAN DBC parsing and successfully integrates the L3- fused simulink model (c code generated using a code generation tool). 3. Completed the obstacle detection of visual YOLO and lidar YOLO 4. Draw the laser SLAM-NDT to obtain the point cloud map of the Dongfeng technology center, and use RoadRunner to draw the map to obtain the road network OpenDrive map. Fusion loaction through IMU+GPS.
- 08/2020: L3-project, Offline two-stage object detection perception model, perform perceptual fusion ACC recall test, developed with Mengqi Lu(Lianyou Technology), Wuhan.
- 06/2020: L3-project, Kick-off meeting of v-SLAM system development project was launched, for LAPA memory parking. SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) is one of the key technologies of LAPA memory parking; when the vehicle is in a ground or underground parking garage and there is no reliable GPS signal coverage, LAPA (memory parking) needs to use SLAM technology for vehicle positioning, Wuhan.
- 01/2020: L3-project, Kick-off meeting of HighwayAssist driving system development scientific research project, based on smart cameras and millimeter wave radar, I was mainly responsible for developing the lane line module and the development tools are simulink and code generation tools, based on AutoSar middleware, Wuhan, January 10th, PM8:00-23:00.
